Systems without Rotating Platens
Frequently, applications involving simple geometric shapes involving small to moderately sized parts, can often be handled by a two-axis system. These systems normally employ a relatively simple, and less costly, Nip Roll feed module and are capable of handling roll and some sheet jobs, allowing the use of a conventional bed mounted cutting surface. However unlike conventional manual cutting, because of their inherent repeatable accuracy of tool placement they also require an Orbital Pad Shifter mechanism.
These models allow for extremely good material utilization, with productive capabilities far outstripping their manually operated siblings. Studies have shown that one machine can often displace as many as 5 6 manual units and since the machine is responsible for rapid and accurate die placement, this allows for a significant lowering of operator skill. The operator is essentially removed from all responsibilities other than the feeding of material and removal of cut parts.
